Introduction
Welcome to the fulfillment of a dream that was borne in the heart of our vision bearer, Chief Jamike Ogbuu for many years. His strong belief in the right to quality education for every child, coupled with a deep sense of commitment and service to his people, culminated in the birthing of this great citadel of learning.
Precious Foundation Schools is located at Amasiri in Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi State. The school sits on 20 plots of land along Poperi – Amangwu Edda road, on top of Ugwuoku hill. This area is far from the distracting noises of the Amasiri commercial districts in a calm, peaceful, and natural environment that is conducive for learning.
The school was founded in accordance with the laws guiding the establishment of private schools in Ebonyi State, with certificate of establishment duly obtained from the State Education Board.
Our History
From the onset, Chief Jamike Ogbuu relied solely on divine providence and abundant goodwill from men to bring this dream to reality. He’s convinced that the educational foundation of any child is a very precious treasure, hence the name Precious Foundation Schools.
The school was founded on the 16th of September 2006, with the sole aim of providing qualitative education that will be accessible to everyone in the community, especially the less priviledged and indigent students that cannot afford quality education because of their poor financial circumstances.
In consideration of his own poor and humble background, the proprietor who hails from Eziukwu Ohaechara area of Amasiri, designed a testable and sustainable academic scholarship program that will last for a period of 25 years. The scholarship program was set up specifically to assist the several less priviledged children within the community and environs who cannot afford to pay tuition fees. This scheme has encouraged a lot of families to send their children to Precious Foundation Schools, thereby enabling us to harness and cultivate their great potentials for the overall development of themselves and the community at large. Presently, sixty-eight (68) pupils and students are enjoying the scholarship scheme of Chief Jamike Ogbuu.
Our Staff Strength
We can boast of about Thirty-six (36) teaching and non-teaching staff of various disciplines with wide range of academic qualifications. Our proprietor is also a seasoned educationist with more than 17 years of teaching experience and educational administration.
Our Achievements
- Within our short period of existence we have been able to acquire 20 plots of land, completed six standard classroom blocks, a standard examination hall, and installed toilet facilities for both students and staff. Our administrative and science laboratory blocks are also nearing completion.
- We have also recorded excellence in academic endeavours. Our students took first, second, and third positions respectively in a quiz competition organized in Amasiri for all schools by The Amasiri Monitor.
- We also recorded a 100% pass from the last two sets that sat for the JSSCE exams. There was no failure!
- The first set of students will write their WASSCE examinations in the school during the 2011/2012 academic session. Measures have already been taken to ensure that we are a certified Examination Centre by that time.
Challenges We Face
Like any other establishment we’re facing quite a number of challenges such as:
- Inadequate Funding: Funds are needed to help the school to carry out projects that will facilitate teaching and learning.
- School Bus: The school needs a standard school bus for conveying pupils to and from the school, as well as for educational field trips and excursions.
- Laboratory Equipment: We also need more equipment to place in our laboratories to enhance teaching and learning of sciences.
- Accommodation: Due to the growing number of pupils and students, the school needs more accommodation space to cater for this growing population.
We would like to use this opportunity to call on all kind spirited individuals and organizations to please encourage us to do more, by donating generously to our cause.
Our Vision and Mission
Precious Foundation Schools is concerned with the utilitarian value of knowledge, and therefore aims at providing quality education that can meet the challenges of the 21st century, and to produce the total man who is sound in learning, worthy in character, useful to himself, to his community, to the Nigerian state, and to the world at large.
