Like a nobody’s darling
Is it his fault?
They come to him

He allows them come
The girls are many
A classroom of them
And his love is angry

She is threatening to go
How would he placate her?
How would he mollify her?
Plead!

Please, don’t go
You are the one I love
You are the love of my heart
Others are time-wasting alternatives

Suddenly a first comes
A second comes
A third comes
My God! A fourth comes

Confusion set in
His love leaves
Others closer
Adventure no more

He goes after his heart
Others after him
On-lookers watching and laughing
At the scene of madness

Too pent-up to speak
He stares in bewilderment
His love gone, others gone
