In preparation to the oncoming Local Government Council Elections in Ebonyi State by July, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP organized a primary election to choose her candidate in Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State.
Out of two hundred and forty-four (244) delegates accredited, a total of two hundred and forty-three (243) delegates voted in the congress to elect a chairmanship candidate for the party in the oncoming Ebonyi State Local Government Council election.
Of the three candidates; Messers Obasi Nwode (the current chairman of the council), Uzondu Ekwechi, and Victor Obaji who contested under the party, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel and State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Emmanuel Echiegu declared Mr Obasi Nwode, the substantive winner of the primary election having satisfied the Party’s requirement of at least 80% of the total votes cast.
